Sources, ranges and freshness
TerraSpoon keeps the source release and calculation assumptions attached to nutrition results. A number is shown as a range when the evidence is a range, and a missing match stays missing instead of being guessed.
Authoritative food composition
The launch catalog is built from reviewed releases of ANSES Ciqual for France and USDA FoodData Central Foundation Foods. Source releases are imported under administrator control, never silently replaced by a web lookup.
What ‘latest’ means
Each result identifies the exact release currently in TerraSpoon. A daily monitor measures its age and whether an upstream check is due. It does not claim that a local release is the newest available until an operator has verified the publisher.
Ranges and organic mode
Low and high nutrient observations remain separate through ingredient, dish and portion calculations. Organic mode is an explicit scenario that selects the sourced high end where a supported range exists; it does not claim that every organic food is inherently more nutritious.
Conversions and uncertainty
Mass and volume conversions use versioned unit evidence. Ingredient density and piece-weight ranges are ingredient-specific. Original recipe wording and quantities remain visible beside normalized values.
Cooking adjustments
Nutrient retention is applied only when a reviewed cooking step is explicitly linked to an ingredient and a matching retention factor exists. Raw, adjusted and mixed coverage is labelled in the result.
